Project Background

The Chilean service center targets a mixed customer base of building envelope fabricators, warehouse and shed manufacturers, and a few local appliance producers. Material thickness is mainly 0.8–4.0 mm, with a wide variety of widths required. Their existing slitting line had limited speed and required long stoppages when changing knife setups and strip counts, which hurt their productivity and made it difficult to combine small jobs efficiently.

As demand for coated products and structural sections grew, production planning became more complex. The company needed a modern slitting line that would not only increase speed but also streamline changeovers so they could respond more flexibly to changing orders without accumulating excessive work-in-progress.

Key Configuration & Parameters
We delivered a 0.8–4.0 mm × 1600 mm slitting line with a maximum speed of 120 m/min. The line includes an optimized slitter stand, loop pit and tension stand arrangement to support quicker strip width and knife-set changes.

Customer Benefits & Feedback
Now, construction and appliance orders can be scheduled on the same line with shorter changeover times while maintaining 120 m/min production speed. The customer reports significantly higher shift output and much greater flexibility in daily scheduling, which helps them reduce delivery times and improve service levels to downstream fabricators.
